It disappoints me that the race is even this close.
I like to think that I am open minded, but I cannot even wrap my brain about why in the world, even for a second, anyone would not vote Obama/Biden tomorrow.
The choice is so clear to me, and the other option so irresponsible that I just don't get it.
I don't really dislike McCain or Palin, and I am certainly not as disgusted with them as I was Bush and Cheney, but NO WAY do I want them to run this country.
McCain used to be a strong, hard headed advocate for the citizens of this country. Now he has changed who he is and what his values are in order to get this far in the election. And his most outrageous decision was to ask Governor Palin to run with him. She is surely an ambitious woman but I don't trust her for a second. And as far as her being ready to run the country, uh...how is this even debatable?
Anyway, I'm stressed about this. I really don't want to be crushed again. Hopefully tomorrow=me elated.

The coolest of bloggers only post once a year?
Yeah yeah I suck at blogging etc. etc.
BUT
The election is a few days away and who doesn't want to ramble on about it? I sure do...
I am voting in California, which is fun because it is a blue(ish) state and because they do it up big with the propositions.
Obviously I'm an Obama supporter (duh), and probably I will blab about that in a later post (circa 2010...). However on the props I haven't nailed down all of my votes, so I haven't done my early voting yet.
Proposition 2 has to do with the confining of farm animals. Exactly the kind of thing that I will probably NEVER even have a chance to vote about in Texas. Basically it requires that egg laying hens, piggies, and baby cows get more space to live in.
I am sure that some of the oppositions claims of importing eggs from Mexico and safety and farms losing money are all true...but I think I might go the good old republican way and vote for what's best for me, screw everybody else.
I don't eat piggies (really they are smarter than us), or baby cows, and I'm only into cage free eggs, so the proposition doesn't raise any of my food prices, and might actually lower the prices for cage free eggs...
Mmmm ok so I just looked through the props again and maybe I'm not undecided...
On a tangent, who the hell are these "undecided" voters. I mean, are they serious? I feel that as soon as the VPs were picked, you DECIDED.
Of course, I am thrilled to be able to vote NO on stinking Proposition 8. I don't understand who goes in to a booth to take part in one of the greatest gifts we are given by being citizens of this country, and says to themselves, "I'd like to use my right to vote to constitutionalize discrimination. Hate is awesome." Every time I see a yard sign or a bumper sticker I am mind-boggled. Who are these people? Are they bad people, or just misguided? Who raised them and how are they raising their kids?
There are other big props having to do with abortion and energy and the like, but they really aren't as interesting as they sound.
I'm so nervous about the 4th I don't think that I will be seeping well for the next few days. I took the 4th and 5th off so that I could celebrate/cry without having to deal with silly shoppers/coworkers who aren't obsessed with the future of the nation.
